Artisans and Vines March 2024 Newsletter
Wine Visits
2024 has had a busy start with visits to and from our wonderful winemakers. The relationships and connections with our portfolio of winemakers are the seminal core of Artisans & Vines’ philosophy. We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to visit vineyards and benefit from the personal visits of domestic and international winemakers and winery representatives visiting Artisans & Vines sales reps, retailers, restauranteurs, and network of wholesalers in the United States.
In the top pictures you can see Eric Platt had a great visit to Sonoma and Napa Valley, California.
Below are pictures from a successful visit from Ricardo Correia from Casa Santos Lima. Ricardo presented an array of alluring affordable Portuguese wines to members at the Potomac Country Club.
Women in Wine
March is Women’s History Month. We have the privilege of working with some amazing women in the wine industry. For a more extensive list and description of the talented women we work with, click here.
Spring Wines
Spring came early in the Washington DC metropolitan area. We have had some patio sipping days already, and it has us thinking about some great wines as it warms up.
From left to right:
Lustig Grüner Veltliner: aromas of apple and pear, softer acidity, round and well balanced at the finish combined with the typical peppery notes of the Grüner Veltliner.
Donna Laura “Ali” Sangiovese Toscana Rosato: hints of strawberry, cherry and pink grapefruit on the nose. The palate is fresh and has a pleasant, long-lasting finish.
Perfectus “Méditerranée” Rosé: This rosé is composed of four grapes typical of the Provence region; Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a crisp acidity that balances well with its round finish.
Carol Shelton “Wild Thing” Rendezvous Rosè: Rich in color, this wine features aromas of juicy strawberry and lemon. Refreshingly crisp and dry.
Domaine Barcelo Rosè: This wine is harmonious, fruity and crisp. It is well-balanced and bold with excellent length and a racy finish.
Welcome to the Team
Please join us in welcoming Sarah Snow to the sales team! Sarah will be working with accounts in the Fredericksburg, VA area. She is a Virginia native with a long history of love of all things wine and food! She is a classically trained vocalist and has sung extensively in the DC Metro area and Rome, Italy. The last 20 years she has been raising four very active boys while working as an arts teacher. In 2020, Sarah decided to focus on a comprehensive study of wine. A local wine expert mentored her through the adventures of wine geography and grapes! After many hours in and out of wine shops and fine restaurants, she decided to connect her new found passion to the wine distribution industry. Sarah’s heart stays near to the wine culture of Europe, but as her husband is an avid scuba diver, Caribbean blue water has been the travel focus the last few years. She is looking forward to keeping herself busy in new adventures as her boys enter their next season of life. Sarah is so excited to be working with the stellar team of Artisans & Vines!
