Omrah Pinot Noir – Fresh and youthful with a fleshy core of dense red fruit and sour cherry. Supple tannins and hints of toasty oak and fresh crunchy acidity on the finish. Showing great regional character with depth of flavour and varietal definition.
Omrah Sauvignon Blanc – Intense guava upfront and hints of crunchy white nectarine and fresh citrus pith. A subtle textural element adds complexity and delicate acidity provides a crisp dry finish.
Omrah Shiraz – Firm even tannins, plush and dense, blue fruits, plum, spicy charry oak, cardamon, nutmeg, subtle savouriness, good fresh acid with a brooding lingering finish.
An Inside Look at Our Artisans and Vines Team!
Jay Evans, a Montgomery County native grew up and attended Winston Churchill High School through 2002. During which time Jay played baseball and worked in a variety of positions in the restaurant field. After graduating from UMBC with a B.A. in Psychology, he worked as an Early Intervention Therapist focused on autism and then in accounting for a local firm, but all the while, held positions as a server and bartender.
Jay officially transitioned over to restaurant management in 2008, at which time he became the front-of-house manager for Growlers in Gaithersburg and earned his “Certified Beer Server” certification from the Cicerone group. He then became the General Manager of Mussel Bar in Bethesda before opening his own restaurant, Suma Restaurant + Bar, in the 2015.
Suma had a short run, but the passion for wine and beer never wavered. Jay transitioned to the sales team for Artisans and Vines at which time his knowledge of the industry provided valuable experience in his interactions with clients.
When Jay isn’t enjoying wines from around the world, he is spending time with his wife and young daughter. During his free time he enjoys playing golf, does crosswords in pen, and is constantly occupied with home improvement projects.
